You’ll find Kiran Prakash Silks at No. 59-120 on the J. M. Road Cross. It’s a spot we’ve called home for quite some time now. Working with silk is what we do all day long. The shop is filled with the smell of new fabric and the sound of it being unrolled on the wooden counters. It’s not a massive showroom, but we have enough variety to keep people interested. J. M. Road is usually pretty lively, so there is always some noise coming from the street. We keep the rolls of silk stacked high on the shelves. Sometimes it’s a bit hard to reach the top ones without a ladder. Customers come in looking for something specific, and we spend time showing them different patterns. We don't use much technology here, just our hands and eyes to check the quality. The lighting is bright so people can see the colors properly. Most of the people who work here have been doing this for years. We know our regulars by name. It’s a very hands-on type of business. When the sun hits the shop in the afternoon, the silk really shines. We just try to keep things organized and help people find what they need without making a big fuss. It’s a simple, honest way to spend the day. We are just a local silk shop trying to do things right in our little corner of the busy road.
