About Maya Material & Bags – Fashion & Trends in Bengaluru
Our place is at 43/44 Cross Road in Balepet. It’s an old building, and we’ve taken up a couple of rooms to store both raw materials and the finished bags. We sell a lot of fabric by the meter, but we also stitch bags right here in the back. The floors are usually covered in loose threads and scraps of cloth. It’s a bit of a mess, but it’s a working shop. We have three old industrial sewing machines that make a lot of noise when they’re all going at once. I usually handle the customers at the front while the others are busy in the back. Balepet is a busy trade area, so we get a lot of people looking for specific materials for their own projects. We don't have a big sign or anything. Most people find us by word of mouth or because they’ve been coming here for decades. The lighting isn't the best inside, so we sometimes have to take fabric out to the door to see the true color in the sunlight. It’s simple, honest work. We aren't trying to be a big factory. We just like making things that last. Sometimes we run out of a certain color and have to wait for the next delivery, and our customers are usually okay with that. It's just the way things go here.
