Mahalakshmi Stores is easy enough to find if you know where the Mahalaxmi Temple is in Chickpet. We are at number 815 on D K Lane, which is part of the Shivananda Market area. Chickpet is a maze, we know that, but once you get to the temple, we are right nearby. It’s a tight space, like most shops in this part of town. We’ve been here for years, and the temple bells are basically our alarm clock. The market is always buzzing with people looking for deals. We don't do much in the way of advertising. Most people find us because they were already visiting the temple or they heard about us from a neighbor. The shop is full of stuff, maybe a bit too full sometimes, but we know where everything is. It’s a family-run kind of thing, very informal. We drink a lot of tea and talk to whoever walks through the door. Shivananda Market is a tough place to work if you don't like crowds, but we've grown to love the energy. D K Lane is narrow, so it's always a bit of a squeeze getting deliveries in and out. We don't try to be anything we aren't. We're just a local store at 815 Chickpet. We keep things simple, sell our goods, and go home at the end of the day. That is the long and short of it for us here at the store.
