Banaswadi 2nd Cross is where we keep the cars. R Sonnappa Block is a bit of a maze if you don't know it, but we’ve been here long enough that we could drive it blindfolded. Running a taxi thing means a lot of phone calls at 4 AM. It's usually people needing a ride to the airport or just getting to work. The cars need a lot of washing and oil changes, which we do right here. Sometimes the traffic on the main road is a nightmare, but that’s just Bangalore life. We have a few drivers who have been with us for years. They know all the shortcuts. It’s not a big company or anything, just a few of us making sure the vehicles are running okay. Sometimes a tire goes flat or a passenger leaves a bag behind, and we have to sort it out. We spend a lot of time waiting for the next call. It gets quiet in the afternoons. My cousin helps with the bookings sometimes when it gets too busy. We just try to show up on time. It's not always perfect, things happen with the engine or the roads are blocked for some festival. But we stay at it. We’ve been at 4 Banaswadi for a good stretch now. The local tea shop is where we usually hang out between trips. It's a simple life, mostly just driving and talking to people all day.
