Kodagu Coffee

Down here at Yeshwantpur 4, the smell of the beans is the first thing you notice when you walk through the door of Kodagu Coffee. It’s a small space, mostly taken up by the bags and the equipment we use every day. We aren't trying to be one of those modern cafes where you sit for hours with a laptop. It’s more of a place where people come because they know the smell and they want their fix. We spend a lot of time just moving sacks around and making sure everything is running okay. The noise of the grinder is constant, so you have to talk a bit louder to be heard over it. Yeshwantpur is always moving, trucks and people everywhere, so we fit right in with the rush. Sometimes the power goes out and we just have to wait it out, which is part of being here I guess. We keep things pretty simple. No decorations on the walls or anything like that. Just the coffee and the people who come to get it. We’ve got a couple of stools if someone wants to stay, but usually, it's just quick. It’s a bit of a messy process, getting the dust on your clothes and your hands, but we’re used to it by now. It’s just what happens when you work with this stuff every day at number four. We don't spend much time on talk, just the beans.
