Kismet Watch Company

Kismet Watch Company has been sitting here in Majestic for a long time. We are right opposite the Old Majestic Theatre, and the Upparpet Police Station is just next door to us. It’s a very busy part of town, with people constantly rushing to catch buses or trains. Inside the shop, it’s a bit different because of the constant ticking of all the watches on the walls. We spend a lot of our time hunched over small pieces, using magnifying glasses to see the tiny gears. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze in here, especially with the old display cases taking up most of the room. Being opposite the Old Majestic Theatre means we’ve seen the area change a lot over the years. The police station next door keeps things interesting, too. We mostly deal with battery changes and fixing straps, but sometimes someone brings in an old mechanical watch that needs real work. We don't have a big fancy sign or anything, just the name people have known for years. It’s a lot of sitting and focusing on small details. Sometimes the traffic noise from Majestic gets loud, but you stop noticing it after a while. We just open up every morning, wind the clocks, and wait for the first customer to walk in. It’s a steady life here, just keeping time for the people passing through Majestic.
