If you head down to Ramamurthy Nagar, you’ll find us right in Guru Nanak Market at number 51. Being in the market means there is always something going on outside our door. There are people hauling crates, vendors shouting, and bikes zooming past. Kings Cafe is a bit of a refuge from all that noise, though it gets plenty loud in here too when the lunch rush starts. We’ve got a couple of tables that have seen better days and a coffee machine that hums a bit too loud, but they get the job done. We spend our mornings brewing pots and getting the snacks ready behind the counter. It is a family-run kind of thing, so you might see different cousins or siblings helping out depending on the day. We don’t have a big menu because we’d rather do a few things well than try to do everything and mess it up. Most people come in for a quick cup and a chat before heading back to work in the market stalls. We know most of the people by name, and we know exactly how they like their drink without them having to ask. It’s not a polished place with shiny lights, just a corner where you can sit for a minute and catch your breath. We’ve been here for a bit now and the walls are covered in old calendars. We also keep a stash of newspapers for anyone who wants to read.
