Kamalam Handlooms Pvt. Ltd. is based out in Peenya, Phase IV. We’re right across from the Vijaya Rolling Mill at number 266. Peenya is a big industrial area, so it’s not exactly a scenic spot, but it’s where things get made. We focus on handlooms, which is a bit different from the heavy engineering stuff you usually see around here. Our building is a simple structure that houses both our office and where we keep the goods. It’s often quite noisy with the traffic and the neighboring factories, but we’re used to it. Inside, it’s a lot of textiles and thread. We spend most of our time making sure the quality is what it needs to be and that orders are going out to the right places. It’s a busy environment. We don’t have any fancy corporate perks or a big human resources department. It’s just us working the looms and managing the sales. Some of the staff have been with us since we started, so it feels like a small community inside an industrial zone. We don’t use big words to describe what we do. We make cloth and we sell it. It’s a straightforward business. The floors are concrete, the lights are bright, and we work hard until the day is done. That’s just how it is here in Peenya. It gets hot in the afternoons but we have enough fans going.
