Jantha Stores

Jantha Stores has been at 14/B Shivaji Nagar for as long as I can remember. My father opened the place, and I took over when he got too tired to manage the daily grind. It’s a small shop, packed from floor to ceiling with all sorts of household goods. We’ve got soap, rice, snacks, and whatever else people in the neighborhood might need in a hurry. The aisles are narrow because we try to fit as much as we can into the space. It’s a bit of a maze, but I know where everything is. We don't have a barcode scanner or anything high-tech. I still use a calculator and a notebook to keep track of sales. The floor is old stone and it’s worn down in the spots where people stand the most. We have a small stool behind the counter, but I rarely get to sit on it. Customers are coming in and out all day long. We know most of them by name. We hear all the local gossip and news here. It’s more than just a store, it’s where people meet up. We don't do deliveries or have an app. If you want something, you just walk over to 14/B. We stay open late most nights because that's when people realize they forgot to buy something for dinner. It’s a tiring job, but it’s what we do.
