India Hat Works

We are located at number 52 in Dhanji Wad, right near the Dr. Bahuva Clinic on Khotkuwa Road in Cottonpet. This area is very old and very busy. India Hat Works has been around for quite some time, and our shop reflects that. It’s a bit cramped inside because we have hats stacked almost to the ceiling in some corners. We spend a lot of our time shaping and fixing things by hand on the old workbenches. The streets around Cottonpet are narrow and always crowded with people and carts, so getting things in and out can be a bit of a challenge every day. We don't have any fancy displays; we just have our workbench and the shelves. It’s a noisy neighborhood, but we’re used to the sounds of the market outside. Most of our customers are people who have been coming to us for years and know exactly where we are. We do a lot of the work ourselves, from sewing the linings to blocking the hats. It’s a dusty place, and we’re always cleaning something off. We usually start early in the morning before the heat gets too bad. It’s not a big corporate business by any means. It’s just a small shop where we do what we know. We have a small wooden bench out front where we sit sometimes when things are slow. It’s a very traditional way of working, and we like being in this part of town despite the daily chaos.
