Ice Point

Being near Dhanushdhari Mandir at 1816/10 in Jayanagar 9th Block is interesting because we get a lot of people walking by from the temple. Ice Point is just a small place we set up. The freezers make a constant humming noise that I’ve grown used to. Sometimes the power cuts out and we have to worry about the stock melting, which is a real headache. We have a few stools outside for people to sit on. They aren't very fancy and one of them wobbles a bit. I keep meaning to fix it. It gets really crowded on weekends, and the sidewalk feels too small for everyone. My cousin works the evening shift with me. We spend most of our time just wiping down the counters because things get sticky fast. It’s a simple business. We don't have a big menu or anything. Most people just want something cold. The neighborhood is mostly families and older folks. We know most of them by name now. It’s not a polished shop. The sign is a bit faded from the sun. We’ve thought about getting a new one but the current one works fine. Every day is about the same. We open the doors, check the temperature of the machines, and wait for the first customer. It's a lot of standing around, but that's the job. We are just a local spot for a quick break while people are out on their errands.
