Hatti Kaapi

Vasanth Nagar is a nice area, and being at 133/1 puts us right where people are walking to their offices. I spend a lot of time behind the counter here at Hatti Kaapi. It’s mostly about the coffee and getting that right every single time. The steam from the machine is always in my face, which isn't so bad when the weather is cool. We have a lot of regular people who come in at the exact same time every morning. It’s like a clock. I can tell you it's 8:30 just by seeing who walks through the door. The space isn't huge, so it gets a bit cramped when it rains and everyone wants to stay dry. We try to keep the floors wiped down, but it’s a constant battle with the muddy shoes. I don’t think much about being a business owner, I just think about making sure the milk is fresh and the cups are clean. Some days are longer than others, especially when the supply truck is late. We just deal with it and keep the coffee flowing. It’s a simple job, really. You talk to neighbors, you hear the local news, and you watch the street get busy and then quiet again. We’re just a part of the daily routine for the folks around here in this part of town. I usually sit out front for five minutes before we close up for the night.
