If you walk down 8th Main on Magadi Chord Road in Vijayanagar, you’ll probably smell our place before you see the number 592. We do a lot of coffee roasting here, so that heavy scent of toasted beans is always hanging around the entrance and the sidewalk. It’s a busy street with plenty of people walking by all day. Our shop isn't very big, and a lot of the floor space is taken up by the big roaster and the heavy bags of green beans. We’ve been in this part of Vijayanagar for quite a long while now. The morning usually starts very early with getting the machine up to temperature and starting the first few batches. We have a couple of old wooden benches where we sit when things get a bit slower in the afternoon. It’s mostly local people from the neighborhood who come in to get their coffee ground fresh. We don't have any fancy seating or a menu with a bunch of complicated names. It's just plain coffee. The walls are a bit stained from the coffee smoke over the years, but it gives the place a bit of character. We know most of our regular customers by their names and what they usually like to buy. It’s a simple routine that we’ve stuck to because it works for us. Sometimes the traffic on Magadi Road makes it hard for the delivery trucks to pull up, but we manage. We just keep roasting and bagging every day.
