Sarvottam Silks

We are tucked away on the first floor of the Gokul Complex. If you know CT Street, you know how crowded it gets around Kemapnna Lane. Our place, Sarvottam Silks, is at No. 9/11 and you have to walk up the stairs to find us. It’s a narrow lane and there’s always someone moving boxes or carts around. Once you get inside, it’s a bit quieter than the street. We have shelves full of different silks and fabrics. Some of them are very bright and others are more plain. We spend a lot of our day unfolding and folding things back up. It’s a lot of work on the arms. We don't really have a big staff, just enough to help people when they come in looking for something specific. The lighting isn't always the best, but we manage. My grandfather used to say that you can tell the quality of silk just by the sound it makes when you rub it. I’m not sure about that, but I know what feels right after all these years. We get a lot of regular people who have been coming to this cross for years. They know we are here. We don't do much fancy stuff, just sell the cloth and help people figure out what they need for their weddings or functions. It’s a bit of a maze getting here, but most people don’t mind the climb. It’s just part of the shopping experience in this area.
