Gokul Tea Company

We've been here in Sultanpet for a good while now. Our shop is right at 132, directly opposite to the Chickpet police station. It's a very busy spot with people and vehicles moving all day. We sell tea leaves and powder in different grades. It’s not a big fancy place with glass windows. It is just a regular shop with bags of tea stacked up and a counter where we talk to customers. People come in and ask what's fresh or what blend would work for their small hotel or home. We just try to get them the right stuff. We don't have a big marketing team or a mission statement. We just know tea because we've been around it for years. My father started this and now we just keep it going. It gets quite loud outside with the traffic and the sirens from the station. We open early in the morning when the air is still a bit cool. That's when we take the deliveries and move the heavy crates around. It’s physical work and your hands get covered in tea dust by noon. We don't have a website or anything like that. Local people just know we are here. Sometimes they want a strong chai mix and other times they want something light. We show them the sacks and let them see for themselves. The shop isn't much to look at but we keep it tidy enough. We are just here doing our job. Most days we are too busy to think about much else.
