George Francis

Our place is at No.176/1, right across from the Telephone Exchange near Carmelaram here in Bangalore. The traffic on this road can be quite a headache, especially in the mornings when everyone is trying to get to work. We have a modest space that serves our needs. It isn't very large, but we've organized it so everything is within reach. We spend most of our time here dealing with the daily routine of the business. You can hear the buses and bikes outside all day long. We have a small porch area where we sometimes stand to get some air. The interior is pretty basic—just some desks, a computer, and a few filing cabinets that have seen better days. We don't go in for fancy decorations or anything like that. George Francis is a small operation and we prefer it that way because we can keep track of everything ourselves. Sometimes the water delivery is late or the rain leaks a little near the back door, but we just fix it and move on. It is a very normal, local way of working. We know the neighbors and the people at the exchange. There is no corporate ladder here, just a few of us making sure the work gets finished by the end of the day. It’s a steady life in a busy part of the city. We keep a small plant by the window, though it struggles a bit with the dust. Mostly we just keep our heads down and work.
