Fresh Assam Tea Agency is located at 16 Hedge Nagar, right on Vinayaka Temple Street. If you go down Oil Mill Road and find the Powerlink Complex, that is where we do most of our work. The whole place smells like dried tea leaves most of the morning, which is a nice way to start the day. We spend a lot of time opening big wooden crates and sorting through different grades of tea that come in from the estates. Some people come in looking for just a small bag for their kitchen, while others are buying in bulk for their own small shops. The office part is just a small corner with a desk and a ledger where we keep track of the stock. We have rows of jars and sacks lined up against the walls. It can get a bit dusty with the tea fine particles in the air, but we are used to it by now. We spend a lot of time weighing out portions on the scale and making sure the packaging is tight. It’s a simple business, really. We talk to the suppliers, check the quality of the leaves, and make sure the customers get what they asked for. Sometimes we sit down and brew a cup just to test a new batch that arrived. There is nothing fancy about the setup, just a lot of tea and hard work every day.
