Down here in Ezipura, things move at their own pace. Our shop is where we handle all the silk work, and it’s usually quite a mess of threads and fabric scraps. The heat can get pretty bad in the middle of the day, so we keep the back door open to catch whatever breeze comes through. We aren't a big corporation; it’s just a few of us trying to keep up with the orders. Sometimes the dye spills or a shipment gets delayed, and we just have to deal with it. We don't have a receptionist or anything like that. If the phone rings, whoever is closest to the desk picks it up. Ezipura is a busy neighborhood, and there is always some noise from the street. Ganesh Silks International is our life's work, but we don't treat it like some fancy office. We sit on plastic chairs and use an old wooden table for packing everything up. The walls are covered with notes we’ve scribbled to ourselves so we don’t forget what needs to go out on Friday. It’s a bit disorganized if you look at it from the outside, but we know where everything is. We spend more time working than worrying about how the place looks to visitors. Most of our regulars just walk in and sit down like they own the place anyway. Sometimes we even forget to eat lunch until it is nearly evening because there is always one more thing to finish up before we can call it a day.
