Coffee Estate

Out here in District Kodagu, things move at a pace that is dictated by the weather and the land. We are located at No. 198 on Club Road. It is a beautiful part of the world, but it is also a lot of hard work. Running an estate means you are always at the mercy of the elements. If it rains too much during the blossom, we worry. If the sun is too harsh, we worry. Our days start very early, often when there is still a heavy mist hanging over the trees. We spend most of our time outdoors. Our boots are usually caked in mud and our clothes are worn out from the brush. It is not a glamorous life like some people might think. There is a lot of lifting, hauling, and checking on the plants. We have a small office on the property, but it is mostly used for keeping records and storing tools. We don't have a big staff or a fancy reception area. If someone comes by, they usually find us out in the fields or near the drying yards. We sit on wooden benches and drink whatever we have brewed that morning. It’s an honest way to make a living. We’ve been doing this for a long time and we don't know any other way to be. The hills are quiet at night, and that is when we finally get to rest.
