Down on Alandi Road in Yeshwantpur, that’s where you’ll find our little corner. It’s a noisy spot with the buses and trucks constantly rolling past, but it’s got a good energy to it. We have a long counter where most of the work happens, and you can usually see the steam rising from the pots all day long. The tiles on the floor are a bit worn down from everyone walking in and out, but we try to keep them as clean as we can. We usually have a radio playing somewhere in the background, though it’s hard to hear over the sound of the traffic outside. Most of the people who stop by are in a hurry, so we’ve learned to move fast. We have a few stools for people who want to sit for a minute, though they’re usually taken. In the mornings, the air smells like spices and wet pavement if it’s been raining. We don’t have a lot of extra space for storage, so we have to stay organized with our supplies. The light in here is a bit dim towards the back, but the front gets plenty of sun in the afternoon. It’s just a basic shop where we put in our hours and chat with the regulars while the tea is brewing. It’s not a complicated life, just keeping the kettle hot and making sure there’s enough sugar and milk for the next round.
