Cafe Coffee Day

This place is on the corner of 72-5-14 on Brigade Road in Haridevpur. It’s a bit of a landmark for the younger crowd around here who need a place to sit. I work behind the counter mostly, and it can get pretty hectic when the college kids show up in groups. We have several tables spread out, and the air conditioning is usually running because it gets quite stuffy otherwise. The large glass windows look out onto the main road, so you can sit and watch the chaos of the traffic while you’re inside. It’s a bit more modern than some of the other shops in the area, but we try to keep the vibe friendly. The floor gets a lot of footprints, especially when it rains outside, so we are always mopping up. There’s always the sound of the steam wand going off and people chatting loudly over their drinks. We have a glass display case for the snacks, and I have to keep cleaning the fingerprints off it every hour or so. It’s a good spot to just sit for a while if you have nowhere else to be. I see the same faces every afternoon, usually people working on their laptops or friends meeting up after a long day at work. We just keep things moving, making sure the beans are ground and the cups are clean for the next person. It’s a lot of routine, but I like the noise and the bustle.
