Black Mug Cafe

So this is Black Mug Cafe. We’re tucked away over here in Jayanagar, specifically at 177 on the 8th Main, right near the 12th and 22nd Cross intersection in 3rd Block. It’s easy to miss if you aren't looking for it, but we’re right next to the Food World. I remember when we first got the keys to this place. The walls were a weird shade of yellow, so we painted them ourselves. It didn't turn out perfect, but it feels okay now. We have some old chairs that we picked up from a market nearby. They’re comfortable enough for a quick sit-down. The coffee machine makes a loud clicking noise sometimes, but it still works. We don't have an espresso menu that’s ten pages long. It’s just coffee, tea, and some snacks we get fresh in the mornings. Sometimes the delivery guy is late because of the Jayanagar traffic, so we might run out of things by the afternoon. That's just part of it. The light comes in through the front window pretty nice in the evenings. We see a lot of students coming in with their books, and some older folks who just want a quiet corner. I usually handle the counter myself, unless my cousin comes in to help out. We aren't trying to be one of those fancy chains. We just wanted a place for people to sit without being rushed out. It’s a small life.
