Bharat Silks

Bharat Silks is based right here in Bangalore. We don't have a specific fancy building to talk about, just our presence in the city. We’ve been around the silk trade for a long time. It’s a bit of a tradition in this part of India, and we’re just a small part of it. Our days are filled with the feel of fabric and the smell of the warehouse. It’s not a glamorous job, despite how the silk looks in the end. There’s a lot of lifting and moving things around. We work in a space that’s mostly filled with rolls of cloth. It’s quiet most of the time, except when we’re debating the quality of a batch. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that. It’s just us and the silk. Bangalore has changed so much with all the tech companies, but we’re still doing things the old way. We like the tactile nature of it. You can’t really do this work through a screen. Most of our staff have been with us for decades. We know each other’s families and stories. It’s a bit like a second home. We drink our coffee, check the inventory, and make sure things are moving. We don't need to be the biggest or the most famous. We just want to stay in business and keep the looms going. That's our daily life. It is just what we do.
