Baskin Robbins

This shop is right on Bannerghatta Road at number 386. Most people know the name Baskin Robbins, but this particular spot is just our small corner of it. We spend most of our time standing behind the glass counter watching people try to decide what they want. The freezers hum all day long which is a sound you just get used to after a while. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to scramble to get the generator running so nothing melts. It can be stressful, but usually, it's just a lot of scooping. We see all kinds of people, from kids who can't reach the counter to older folks who just want a small cup. The floors get sticky sometimes if we don't mop them every hour because of the drips. We keep a stack of napkins ready because people always need them. Being on Bannerghatta Road means there's always noise from the buses and cars outside. We just stay inside in the cold air. It’s a simple job, really. We open the tubs, serve the scoops, and wash the spoons. We have a small back room for our breaks where we keep our bags and a few spare shirts. It’s not a glamorous place, just a shop where we sell ice cream to whoever walks in from the heat. We don't do much else besides that. We just scoop.
