Asst.Engineer

I’m located on the first floor of a building in Kalappa Compound, which is at 35, II Cross in A.D. Halli. It’s right off Magadi Main Road here in Bangalore. The place is actually care of Venkatamma. It’s a typical Bangalore neighborhood, lots of houses packed in and plenty of small shops around the corners. Working as an assistant engineer means I’m usually busy with site plans and technical data. The office is just a couple of rooms where we keep our files and equipment. It’s not the kind of place with a lobby or a receptionist. You just walk up the stairs and I’m usually there at the table. The traffic on Magadi Road can be a real headache, but once you’re inside the compound, it’s a bit quieter. I’ve been doing this for a few years now, helping with the local engineering projects. It’s a lot of double-checking numbers and making sure the materials are what they say they are. I don’t have a big team or anything, just a few people I work with regularly. We just try to do a solid job and keep the projects on track. The light in the office is okay in the mornings, but I usually need a lamp by four o’clock. It’s just a regular, working-class spot where we do our engineering tasks without any fuss. Sometimes the power goes out, but we just wait it out or use our phones to see the papers.
