Arun Cabs

Arun Cabs is based out of a small spot at 152 Rabrindranath Tagore Nagar, right on the Sahunagar Road. We are very close to the government school, so during the afternoon, the whole street fills up with kids and parents. It makes getting the cars out of the driveway a bit of a challenge sometimes. We started this because we knew the roads well and had a couple of decent vehicles to use. The office is really just a desk, some chairs, and a big map pinned to the wall that’s starting to yellow at the edges. We keep the keys on a rack by the door. Our drivers are local guys who know all the shortcuts to avoid the main road traffic. Sometimes the phones ring off the hook and other times it’s quiet enough to read the newspaper cover to cover. We don’t have a website or anything like that, just the landline and people who know us by word of mouth. The building itself is older, and the paint is peeling a bit near the bottom, but it stays cool inside. We mostly just focus on making sure the cars are running okay and the drivers show up when they are supposed to. It is a simple life running a taxi stand in RT Nagar. We see the same faces every day and we like it that way because it feels like we are part of the street.
