Akshay Engineering Works

We have been running this engineering shop at Jalahalli on Kanaka Nagar Main Road 6 for a good while now. It’s not a fancy place by any means. If you walk in, you’ll likely see some of us covered in grease or leaning over a lathe machine. The floor is usually a bit dusty with metal shavings, and there is always that smell of cutting oil in the air. We don’t have a big front office or a receptionist to greet people. Usually, you just walk right into the workspace and find one of us. My brother and I handle most of the mechanical repairs and custom fabrication. We started with just a couple of old machines and slowly added more as we could afford them. It gets quite loud during the day when the grinders are going, so we sometimes have to shout to hear each other. We don’t spend much time on the computer or doing paperwork unless we really have to. Most of our work is done with our hands. People from around the neighborhood bring us all sorts of things to fix. Sometimes it’s a part for a tractor, other times it’s something for a small factory nearby. We just take it as it comes. We aren't trying to grow into some massive corporation. We just like having a steady stream of work and a place to build things. It’s a simple life here on the main road.
