Kengeri is a bit away from the main hustle of Bangalore, and that’s how we like it at Abhishek Home Products. Our place is at Kengeri 590. It’s a decent-sized space because we have to store things. It’s more of a practical building than a fancy storefront for customers. We spend a lot of our time moving boxes and checking the inventory. The air is a little clearer out here than it is in the city center. We start our day with a quick talk about what needs to go out that afternoon. The floor is usually covered with packing materials like bubble wrap and tape. We don’t have a fancy lobby with a receptionist sitting there. Usually, whoever is closest to the door greets people when they walk in. It’s a very hands-on kind of place. We deal with various home items, so there’s always something new coming in or going out. Sometimes the delivery trucks block the narrow lane for a bit, but the neighbors are usually patient with us. We’ve got some sturdy shelves lining the walls to keep things off the floor. It’s not very high-tech, just basic organization that works. We use a lot of cardboard every day. If you come by, you’ll probably find us in the middle of a big shipment. We don’t wear suits here; it’s mostly just jeans and shirts because the work is physical. It’s a steady rhythm we have going. We just try to make sure everything is where it should be.
