Aakash City Taxi

Our office is at 5 Rabrindranath Tagore Nagar on M G Road. We are directly opposite the Pushpanjali Theatre, so we are very easy to find. If you see people waiting for cabs near the theater, they are often looking for us. We run a taxi service, which means our phones are always buzzing with ride requests. It’s a small room with a couple of chairs and a lot of chargers for our phones. We coordinate with drivers who are scattered all over the city. M G Road is always packed with traffic, so we spend a lot of time looking out the window at the cars going by. We started this because we knew the area well and saw that people needed reliable rides. We don't have a flashy app or anything like that. People usually just call our number or walk into the office to book a cab for a trip or an airport drop. We have a whiteboard where we keep track of the bookings for the day. Sometimes a driver gets stuck in a jam and we have to shuffle things around. It’s a bit of a juggle, but we’ve been doing it long enough to not get too stressed. It’s just us and the drivers trying to get people where they need to go. Pushpanjali Theatre is a good landmark for us because everyone knows it, so we just tell people to look for the taxi sign right across the street.
