Vakkalu Farmer Producer Company Limited is tucked away in Jyothinagara, right behind the Kollapuradamma Temple. It’s a quiet part of Sira Town in Tumkur. Being behind the temple gives the place a bit of a calm feeling, though it can get quite loud during the local festivals. We are a company made up of farmers from the surrounding area. We don't have a big marketing department or any fancy offices. It’s just a room with some chairs and a desk where we handle the business side of things. Most of the people who come in are our neighbors or relatives. We spend a lot of time talking about the groundnuts and other crops that grow well in this soil. It’s hard work being a farmer, and we all know that firsthand. That’s why we started this group. We wanted a place where we could pool our resources and maybe get a better price for what we work so hard to grow. Sometimes the paperwork gets a bit much, and we struggle to keep up with all the new rules, but we help each other out. It’s a very local thing, and we take pride in knowing everyone who walks through our door. We just try to keep things moving along so everyone can get back to their fields. We’ve been here long enough that people know they can find us behind the temple whenever they need help with their produce or just some advice on the season.
