Down in Hosahalli Village, life is mostly about the weather and the crops. We are the Ulume Farmer Producer Company Limited. Our area in Y N Hosakote Hoballipavagada Taluk is part of the Tumkur district. It’s a dry region, so we have to be smart about how we use water. Most of us here grow things like ragi or groundnuts, depending on the year. We started this company because we realized that staying isolated wasn't helping anyone. We meet up in the village to discuss what we’re going to plant and how we can get a better price at the market. It’s a simple life. We don’t have fancy offices with air conditioning; we mostly sit under the shade of a tree or in a small shed. You’ll see a lot of calloused hands and dusty clothes if you visit us. We’re just trying to make sure our village stays afloat. Sometimes the rains fail and things get really tough, but we stick together as neighbors. It’s not about being a big name; it’s about the people in Hosahalli having a way to sell what they grow. We work the land, we look at the sky, and we try to make a living. That’s really all there is to it. Every day is a new challenge.
