You can find us at No 181 on the 2nd Cross of Government School Road in Doddakalsandra. It is a bit tucked away, but most locals know where the fish people are. We aren't growing crops in the dirt like the others; we are busy with the water. Fish farming is a different kind of stress than land farming. You have to watch the water levels and make sure the feed is right every single day. The road outside gets busy when the school lets out in the afternoon, but otherwise, it’s just the sound of water and nets. We started this because finding good fingerlings and getting the fish to the market while they are fresh is a huge job for one person to handle alone. Now we share the load and the costs. Our office is pretty plain, just a couple of desks and some chairs where we sit and argue about prices. Sometimes the smell of the tanks sticks to your clothes, but you get used to it after a while. We don't have a big fancy sign out front. We just do our work. It’s mostly about making sure the local ponds are producing enough for everyone to make a living. It’s a lot of early mornings and wet boots for us. We don't mind the mess because it's how we provide for our families. Most of us live nearby, so we're always around if something goes wrong.
