Ruwari Fish Farmers Producer Company

We are over here in the neighborhood near Murali Nursing Home, right by Koteswaramma. Most people around here know where that is. We started Ruwari Fish Farmers Producer Company because a few of us who do fish farming wanted to work together instead of everyone doing their own thing alone. It’s a lot of work looking after the ponds and making sure the fish are healthy every day. Sometimes the weather doesn't help us much, but we keep at it. Our office is just a simple spot where we meet to talk about the prices and how to get the feed. It isn't anything fancy. We spend most of our time out where the water is. It’s a messy job sometimes with the mud and the nets, but it’s what we know. A lot of families in this part of town depend on what we do. We try to keep things organized so everyone gets a fair deal when the harvest comes. If you walk past the nursing home, you’ll likely see some of us coming or going. We just want to make sure the local market has good fish and that the farmers can pay their bills at the end of the month. It's been a long road getting this group started, but we are slowly figuring things out together. We aren't experts at everything, just people who have been around fish for a long time.
