We are situated out near the Sogal Asram in Sogalmallur. If you’ve ever been to the ashram, you know it is a very peaceful and spiritual place, but for us, it’s also where we do the daily work of animal husbandry. Our group is all about livestock—mostly cows and goats and things like that. We spend a lot of time talking about feed and health and how to keep the animals happy during the dry months. Being near the ashram means it is usually quiet, except for the sounds of the animals, which is fine by us. We aren't a corporate business with a lot of rules; we are more of a collective of local people who know their way around a barn. Sometimes the work is really messy, and we don't always get everything right the first time, but we keep trying. People around here know us because we’ve been part of this community for years. We don't have a fancy storefront. Mostly, we just meet up, discuss the milk yields or the price of hay, and see how we can help each other out. It is a practical way of living. We care about our animals and we care about our neighbors in Sogal. That’s really all there is to it. We just do our best to keep the livestock healthy so the families here can keep going.
