Bellavi Farmer Producer Company Limited

We are based over in Chikkabellavi, right in the Bellavi Post area of Tumkur. It’s a small community where everyone pretty much knows everyone else’s business anyway. A group of us decided to set up this farmer producer company to help each other out with the day-to-day stuff that comes with owning land. Farming in this part of Tumkur has its challenges, mostly with the soil and getting enough water when the clouds don't show up. We use our little spot in the village to gather and talk about what we're going to plant. It isn't a big corporate setup. It’s more like a group of neighbors sitting around and trying to solve problems. We deal with all sorts of local crops. Some of us have been doing this since we were children, following our parents into the fields. We don't have much in the way of fancy equipment, but we make do with what we have. Most days you can find a few of us hanging around the office area, discussing prices or the latest news about the weather. We wanted a way to keep the money in the village rather than it all going to middlemen who don't even know where Bellavi is. It’s a simple life, mostly involving dirt, sweat, and a lot of waiting for things to grow. We're just regular people trying to keep our farms going for another year and hopefully the one after that too.
