Karanataka State Road Transport Corporation

This particular spot for the Karanataka State Road Transport Corporation is run out of a residence in Guruprasad Colony, Belgaum. It’s the home of Jagadamba Koparde, who is the wife of R.P. Koparde, specifically Plot No. 7 in Kaveri Nagar. It is right at the last cross on Mandoli Road. It’s a quiet residential neighborhood for the most part, quite different from the busy bus stands you usually associate with the corporation. Because it’s a house, it feels much more personal than a big government office. We have some space set aside for handling things related to the transport corporation. It’s not always busy, but we do get people stopping by or calling about various matters. The street outside is fairly narrow, so you have to be careful when driving down to the end of the road. There are a few other houses nearby and some small shops further down. The atmosphere is very local. We handle the paperwork and the messages that come through here. It’s a practical arrangement that works for this part of town. Sometimes the neighborhood kids are playing out on the street while we are trying to get the logs finished. It’s just how things go. We’ve lived here for quite some time, so we know all the neighbors. It’s not a typical office environment with cubicles and bright lights, but we manage to stay on top of the work regardless. We just take things one day at a time and see what needs to be done each morning.
