Basaveshwara Cements

Our place, Basaveshwara Cements, is down at 214 Margai Galli in Kakati. It’s a small lane, so it’s not always the easiest to navigate if you have a big truck, but we make it work. The shop is pretty much what you’d expect for a cement business. There are stacks of bags everywhere, and there’s always a fine layer of dust on the chairs and the desk. We don’t mind it much because it’s just part of the job. Most of our day involves moving those heavy bags and talking to people who are building something in the area. We aren't trying to be some big national company; we just serve the folks around Kakati. The neighbors in Margai Galli are good people, and we all look out for each other. Sometimes we sit outside on a bench when it's not too busy and just watch the street. We don't have a mission statement or any fancy goals written on the wall. We just want to make sure we have enough stock for whoever comes by. The building is simple and functional, without any extra decorations. It’s just a place of work. We’ve been here long enough that people know us by our first names. It’s a lot of physical labor, and the work can be tiring, but it’s a steady life. We like being part of the local scene here in the village and keeping things simple.
