Awami Co-Operative Bank

Our little bank is over in Sadhashiv Nagar on 7th Cross. The building is called Devdeep and we are right on the 2nd Main road. It is a quiet enough corner of Belgaum, though it picks up when people get their paychecks. We have been sitting at this desk for years now. Awami Co-Operative Bank isn't like those massive towers in the big cities. We know most of the people who walk through the door by their first names. Sometimes the ledger takes a while to balance and we stay a bit late, but it is just part of the job. Karnataka 590001 is a nice area to work in. There is a tea stall nearby where we go when things get slow in the afternoon. We handle the deposits and the small loans for the neighbors. It is straightforward work without any of the big talk you hear from other places. The lobby has some chairs that have seen better days but they are comfortable enough for waiting. We keep the fans running since it gets stuffy inside during the summer months. Most folks just stop by to chat as much as they do for their accounts. It feels more like a community spot than a cold office. We try to keep the queues short but sometimes it just happens when everyone comes at once on a Monday morning. We just keep our heads down and count the notes carefully as they come across the counter.
