Wan Valley Farmers Producer Company Limited

We are based at Home No. 1122 in Shepwadi, which is a small place in the Ambajogai taluka. The name comes from the valley we are in, and that’s where all our members have their fields and homes. We started this company because it was getting harder and harder to make any kind of profit on our own. Now we try to buy our supplies together and sell our crops in bigger batches to get a better rate. It’s not a fancy business with a big office building. It’s just us farmers meeting up at the house to figure out the week’s work and who is doing what. We spend most of our time outdoors in the sun, so the office room is usually empty until the evening hours. We don't use any complicated language or have big goals other than making sure our families are taken care of. Dealing with the weather in the valley can be tricky, but we’ve lived here long enough to know how to handle the rain and the heat. Sometimes the roads get bad and we can’t get the trucks in, so we just have to wait it out. It’s a simple life, but it belongs to us. We don’t have any marketing people; we just talk to the neighboring villages and the local traders we know. It feels right to be working for ourselves like this. We just take things one day at a time.
