Our group is based in Waghira village, which is under the Patoda tehsil in Beed. The address is 454 Vaghira. It’s a pretty dry area, and we have to be careful with how we use the land. Waghira Farmers is just a way for us to stay connected. We aren't doing anything revolutionary. We are just doing what our fathers and grandfathers did, but we’re trying to be a bit smarter about the money side of it. The office is a small room in the village. It’s got a heavy wooden door that creaks when you open it. We keep our records in big binders that are starting to get a bit worn out. We don’t have a lot of technology. Most things are done by hand or on a simple phone call. We talk about the rain constantly because in Beed, that’s the difference between a good year and a bad one. We don't use any marketing jargon because we wouldn't even know what it means. We just speak plainly. We help each other find good seeds and try to get a better price when it’s time to sell the harvest. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s ours. We are just a bunch of neighbors in Waghira trying to make things work.
