We are a group of farmers here in Guntegaon, specifically based at the Wagmode Wasti area in Georai Bid. The company, Mahadev Jankar Farmers Producer Companylimited, basically started because we needed a way to handle our crops better. It's run out of Kisan Murali Gande’s place. Most of us around here have been farming for generations, so it’s nothing new, but the business side is something we are figuring out as we go. We spend most of our days out in the fields and then meet up at the house to talk about what needs to be done next. It’s not a big fancy office or anything like that, just a regular home where we keep our papers and talk to neighbors. Sometimes things get a bit busy during the harvest season and the phone doesn't stop ringing. We try to keep things simple. Dealing with markets can be a headache, so having this setup helps us stay organized together. We've got folks coming by the Wasti all the time asking about seeds or what the prices are looking like. It’s hard work, no doubt about it. The weather doesn’t always help us out, but we keep moving. We are just local people trying to make sure our produce gets where it needs to go without too much trouble. It's a small operation but it keeps us all busy every single day.
