Down in Warkhedi near Sillod we have our little setup for Sarjadeep Marathwada Farmer Producer Company Limited. We are based out of Rama Phuke's house, at H No. 34 to be exact. It’s a real rural spot and that’s how we like it. We are mostly farmers coming together to figure out how to sell our stuff better. Kannad is a good place for this kind of work. We spend a lot of time talking about crops and the weather because that’s what matters to us. It isn't a big city business with glass walls. It’s more about sitting around a table and deciding what to do next. We’ve got a lot of families involved. Everyone knows everyone around here in Warkhedi. We don't use much fancy technology, just the basics to keep our records straight. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic when harvest time comes around. You’ll find us busy with the logistics then. We started this company because we wanted to have more of a say in how things are run locally. It’s been a learning process for all of us. Some days are harder than others but we stick together. It’s just how things are done in the Marathwada region. We don't have a big marketing team. We just talk to people face to face. It’s a slow and steady way of building things but it works for us.
