Sant Balumama Farmer Producer Companylimited is located in Neknoor, specifically at Ashok Maruti Kankar’s place, which is house number 547. We are in the Beed district, and like everyone else around here, we live and breathe farming. We took the name Sant Balumama because it means something to us and the people in this community. We are not running this out of a big office; it is just Ashok’s home where we gather to talk business. And by business, I mean talking about why the onions didn't grow well or how we can get a better price for our grain. Beed can be a hard place to be a farmer because the water is scarce and the heat is sometimes too much. We started this group because we realized that if we do not stand together, we will all struggle individually. We are learning how to manage the company as we go along. None of us went to school for business, so we rely on our common sense and what we have learned from years of working the land. It is noisy and chaotic when we all get together, with everyone having a different opinion, but we eventually figure things out. We don’t have a fancy website or a marketing plan. We just have our hands, our land, and this little company to help us get through the seasons. It is honest work, and we are just trying to survive and keep the tradition of the village going.
