Parner Shetmitra Agro Producer Company is based out of Nageshwadi, specifically at House Number 483. We are in the Patoda Taluka within the Beed district. It’s a dry area mostly, so we have to be smart about how we use what we’ve got. Shetmitra means friends of the farmers, and that’s basically what we are—neighbors helping neighbors. We don't have a corporate office with glass walls; we have a small place in the village where we sit and drink tea and figure out the season’s plan. The dust gets everywhere and the roads aren't always great, but this is where we live. We deal with the crops that grow well in this Beed climate. Everyone in Nageshwadi knows each other, so we can’t really hide if things go wrong. We just try to be practical and keep the costs down for everyone involved. Sometimes we have meetings under the shade of a tree because it’s cooler than being inside. We handle the paperwork when we have to, but we’d rather be outside. It’s a simple operation, focused on the realities of agriculture in this part of Maharashtra. We don't make big promises, we just work hard and see what the harvest looks like. It’s a tough life sometimes, but it’s our life and we wouldn’t know what else to do.
