Over here in Khardewdi, specifically at Laximan Baburao Bhosale’s place, things are pretty quiet most of the time. We are part of the Beed district, which means we deal with some tough seasons. Manavlok Farmer Producer Company Limited isn't some big city corporation. It’s just us. We started this because we saw that the middleman was taking too much and the farmers were left with almost nothing. We figured if we worked together, maybe we could change that a little bit. It's not easy work. There are days when the rain doesn't come and everyone is worried, and then there are days when there's too much work to do. We keep our records and meet at the C/O address because it’s central for us. You won't find anyone in suits here. We’re usually in our working clothes, maybe with some mud on our boots. We talk about the ground, the water, and how to get the bags to the market. It’s a lot of practical stuff, like who has a truck available or which market is buying today. We don't have fancy goals, we just want to keep our farms running. Beed is a place where you have to be tough, and we try to be that for each other. It’s just a small group of farmers looking out for the village and making sure we get by. We’ve been here a long time and we plan to stay.
