Jawalgaon Farmer Producer Company Limited

Jawalgaon is a quiet place and that is where you’ll find us at Muktai Nivas, house number 268. We are part of the Ambajogai Taluka, which is a good area for what we do. Jawalgaon Farmer Producer Company Limited isn't some big corporate setup. It’s based in a house because that’s where the space was available. We have a few rooms set aside for the company business. Most days, it’s just a few of us sitting around a table with a laptop and some notebooks. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we haven't gotten around to it yet because there is always something more important to do in the fields. People from around the village stop by all the time, mostly just to chat or ask about when the next meeting is. We don't really have set hours; if someone is home, then the company is open. It gets quite cold in the winters here, so we tend to huddle up inside. In the summer, we sit under the neem tree outside. It’s a simple way of living and working. We are just trying to get the farmers in Jawalgaon a better deal than they would get on their own. It’s a lot of work to keep everyone on the same page, but we are getting there slowly. We have to keep track of a lot of different crops and names, which can be a bit confusing some days. Everyone helps out where they can and we just take it one season at a time and hope the weather stays on our side.
