Charatha Farmers Producer Company Limited

Charatha Farmers Producer Company Limited is based in the village of Charatha in Beed. We use Baburao Shripati Ubale’s house, which is number 83, as our main point of contact. It’s a small house in a small village. Most of us here have been farming since we were old enough to walk. We started this company because we wanted to see if we could do things a bit differently than our parents did, maybe by pooling our resources together. Beed can be a tough place for farming because it gets so dry. We spend a lot of time worrying about the rains. When we do get a good crop, the next problem is getting it to the market without spending all our profit on a truck. That’s why we formed this group. It’s just us local guys trying to figure out the best way forward. We don't use big words or have a fancy mission. We just want to be able to sell our grain or cotton for a fair price. Some days we are very frustrated with the rules and the government forms, but we keep at it. If you come to Charatha, you’ll see us in the fields most days. It’s a quiet life, but it’s what we have. We just try to help each other through the bad seasons and keep things moving.
