Bhushan Power & Steel Ltd,Jharsuguda

This is the Qc Central Lab for Bhushan Power & Steel Ltd over here in Jharsuguda. We are specifically located in Thelkoloi, right near Lapanga in the Sambalpur district of Orissa. It’s a very heavy industrial area. You can hear the noise of the machines and the trucks passing by all day long. My job is in the lab, so we are surrounded by testing equipment and samples of steel products. It’s not a clean, white-carpet kind of office. It’s a working lab. We get our hands dirty, and there is always some dust from the plant blowing in. The heat in Orissa can be something else, especially in the middle of summer. We spend our days checking the quality of the output and making sure the numbers in the logs are right. We aren't here to write fancy reports for show. We just need to know if the steel is good or not. Thelkoloi is a busy spot because of the large factory. There are a lot of workers moving around every time the shift changes. We usually have our tea at the small stall just outside the gate. It’s a simple life, focused on the technical side of the business. We’ve been at this lab for a long time. The equipment is a bit old but it works well enough if you know how to handle it correctly. We just do our shifts, write down the results, and go home to our families. It’s practical work for us.
