You can find us at the Om Watch House building in Purani Basti Chowk. It is right in the middle of Jharsuguda. D.K. Singh handles things here along with Vijay Kumar Das. It’s a bit of a landmark because of the watch shop. The area is always crowded and noisy with the sounds of the market. We have a small space where we manage the steel company’s local interests. It’s not a big corporate headquarters by any means. There are clocks ticking everywhere because of the shop downstairs. It makes for a funny background noise when we are on the phone. We get a lot of people stopping by just because they are in the chowk for shopping. The office is full of ledgers and pens that never seem to work when you need them. We don’t have a lot of space, so things get piled up on the chairs. It’s a very local way of doing business. We know the other shopkeepers and we see the same people every day. Jharsuguda is a busy place for steel, so there is always something happening. We just sit in the back, handle the logs, and make sure the accounts are right. It’s practical and it works for us. We don’t need anything more than a desk and a good cup of tea.
