Our little spot called Amber is located inside the Hotel Uberoi Anand. We are at 46 Civil Lines, which is a pretty central part of the city here in 243001. Being part of the hotel means we get a mix of people staying upstairs and folks coming in from the street. It’s a bit of an older building so it has its quirks, like the way the doors creak sometimes. We spend most of the day in the dining area. There’s a lot of polishing glasses and setting out the napkins. The kitchen is tucked away in the back and it stays pretty loud when the lunch rush starts. Civil Lines can be a busy area so we see a lot of office workers during the week. We don't have any fancy posters or anything, just the menus and the tables. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to switch to the generator, which is just how it is around here. We know most of the regulars by name. It’s a comfortable enough place if you just want to sit down for a while. The staff has been here for a long time and we all know how the routine goes. We just focus on getting the plates out and making sure people have water. It’s not complicated, but it keeps us busy from morning until we close up late at night. Often, we find ourselves just chatting with the hotel receptionist to pass the time between customers.
